Woldemar Bretschneider had the bold idea to build a restaurant in the form of an enchantingly beautiful castle in the "Kreuzteich". He got the building permit in 1896 and in 1897 the concession for the serving of alcoholic beverages.The "Schwanenschlösschen" has gone through many ups and downs in its history, but never lost its charm. It is one of Freiberg's most beautiful landmarks. The beautiful architecture and the location in the "Kreuzteich" makes it a popular excursion spot.
