2234 - Advent calendar "Dresden Striezelmarkt"
Advent calendar" Dresden Striezelmarkt"
The Dresden Striezelmarkt as an advent calendar must not be missing in the collection of Brück & Sohn. The emergence of the Dresdner Striezelmarkt dates back to 1434, which makes it one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany. Its name is derived from Middle High German "Struzel" or "Striezel", which today is the "Dresden Stollen". The Dresden Striezelmarket has preserved many of its traditions and maintains them until today. The "Dresden Stollen" and the "Dresden Pflaumentoffel", which the Striezelchildren sold on the old Striezelmarkt, are probably the two best-known celebrities of the Dresdner Striezelmarkt.
The well-known painter of Romanticism Ludwig Richter immortalized the "Striezelkinder" in a woodcut forever. They sit on the Dresden Striezelmarket and sell Pflaumentoffel, these little men, which are put together from prunes and belong to the Saxon Christmas like the Christmas tree. Lovingly installed in the motif of the advent calendar are the little windows to open. The pictures show things of the Christmas period and Saxon tradition that could actually be found there. Be curious and invite all your friends to stroll around the Dresden Striezelmarkt.
