Pillnitz Palce was one of the pleasure palaces of Augustus the Strong. Augustus the Strong had the castle Pillnitz rebuilt and expanded In baroque style from 1720. The Pillnitz castle is located directly on the Elbe. The three palace buildings frame a magnificent baroque pleasure garden with some surprises from August's time.
When producing the Mini Advent calendar, the artist was inspired, by the Oriental roofs and cornices of the Water Palace, which were very popular in the Baroque and has magically added the three wise men from the East from the biblical Christmas story into the oriental mood of the Pillnitz castle.
