Nutcrackers, smokers, angels, miners and the church in Seiffen are widely known as the typical wooden Erzgebirge figures. A look into the Erzgebirge workshop will let the hearts of the friends of Erzgebirge folk art beat faster. Watching a tire turner is an exciting thing. The tire turner turns a piece of wood on a wooden lathe so that a wooden ring (wooden tire) is created which profile corresponds to the desired figure. The craft of tire turning was developed around 1800 near Seiffen in the Erzgebirge and today is still an integral part of the Erzgebirge folk art.

This is how toy houses, animals and figures are made for fitting Christmas pyramids. In the Erzgebirge Toy Museum Seiffen one section is dedicated to the craft of the tire turner. Make all your friends in the distance happy at Christmas time, with this advent calendar in form of a greeting card with the motif of an Erzgebirge workshop. Behind the windows are pictures with typical Erzgebirge figures such as nutcracker, smoker, angel and miner, Christmas pyramid and candle arch. Have fun opening daily.
